I have not been involved in bodybuilding in quite some time. Everything is new and updated over the past 12 years. I am courious about recovery. New research shows the importance of carbs during recovery. Especially for endourance training. Recovery products such as Ultra Fuel, Endurox, etc. With the idea that your muscles need these to aid with breakdown and repair. However, Beverly Int'l recommends their Glutamine Select that contains no carbs. I have heard from other builders that BCAA's are best for recovory.

Bodybuilding is way different from endourance training. What do you all use? I am at a point to start pushing my training and diet, etc for body building competition. Recovery assistance is extreamly important to me.

Thank you

Hey Barbara - Great question.

Carbs are definitely great in your post workout meal. I usually have a MRP shake with carbs after my workouts.

Glutamine is on the list of most bodybuilders. BCAAs are great for recovery and should definitely be included in your diet. I take them using Scivation's Extend. I drink it pre, during and after my workout and then follow up with a shake about 1/2 hour later.

Creatine is also important for bodybuilders. Some women tend to hold a bit of water using creatine. But this is not unusual. It's used to hydrate the muscles so of course we may carry some extra water elsewhere.

In my opinion, these three supps along with a good post workout shake are key to gains and recovery.

I agree. I think carbs post training, along with some BCAAs, glutamine, and creatine work wonders. I usually have 1/2 MetRx before training and the other 1/2 after, and add a touch of sugar to the post protein drink to help drive the nutrients to the muscles.
