I learned about your site from bodybuilding.com. I am also 5'7" and it is good to see someone your height so you can get an idea of what to strive for. I am 43 and started last April with 37% body fat, size 16, weight 186. As of the end of March I am 28.3%, size 8, weight 158. That was all with a goal of getting fit. Now I would like to aim for a long time goal of bodybuilding. I am giving myself a year. However I would really like to press for 6 months. I would like to compete around 135-140lbs. I am curious about what bodyfat percent you are? The picture of you in jeans and black shirt on bodybuilding.com, what % were you there? And what % are you usually when you compete? I know you compete lightweight at 125lb right?

You have a great site. Thank you for the effort to help others get support.

Hi Barbara!

Welcome! Yes I compete around 125 lbs. I'm actually a heavyweight in the natural organizations that I compete in. Hard to believe! Lol!

I was about 9% bf in that photoshoot and have competed anywhere between 8-10%. After winning my pro status with the USBF last fall my goal is to come in even leaner and harder this year.

The first year I competed, I lost 21 lbs and 11% body fat in 9 weeks. I competed at 10%. I sacraficed a bit of hard earned muscle and give now try to stay leaner in the off season ~15-16% and give myself plenty of time to diet down for a show. At least 12-16 weeks.

I think giving yourself a goal of a year to continue to lose body fat and gain muscle is a great goal. Do I think it could be done in 6 months? Absolutely. If you have the drive and discipline it is definitely attainable.

Let me know how I can help.

Julie,
Thank you for your reply. Over the years I have learned that when people offer to help you should take them up on it. I was once told to do this for one of two reasons: 1) if they are sincere in their offer and you don’t take them up on it, they may be hurt; or 2) if they were NOT sincere, then it serves them right for offering in the first place. I am trusting that you fall under the sincere category, because I sure could us some help with this.

I am especially interested in the loosing 11% BF in 9 weeks. I do believe I can do this or come extremely close to it. I am interested in how you did it. How much time in workout, cardio and ESPECIALLY the eating part. Let me tell you my story…

My husband is applying for a security job in Kuwait. He should hear something in the next two weeks and then ship out 2-3 weeks after that. He will be gone for one year, with a two week vacation after 6 months. Hence my 6 month – 1 yr goal. I told him I want to look as close to your picture as possible when her returns. Would like to for the 6 month return but most definitely after he returns in one year. Being the same height, I know I can come very close. Therefore I will be able to hit this full force when he leaves. Which should be late June or July.

Right now I am laying down the ground work. I have a trainer. He is truly wonderful and knows his stuff. However, seeing that his heart is in powerlifting (he competes, natural), he claims that his only good eating habits are that he chews with his mouth closed. There is a guy who competes in bodybuilding at this gym also willing to aid. And a lovely gal who competed (once, 3rd place) in figure. She does not know bodybuilding but has a heart of gold and is willing to help where needed.

So now that you know I am long winded and very willing to work hard for some tough goals do you still offer to help me? My email is barbsdanes@hotmail.com, incase my post are way too long for this forum.

Thank you and thank you for putting this web site out there. Love the Tattoo forum.
