Hello Julie! I've posted a few times on OCB message boards - but still am not totally comfortable - since you guys all know each other so well & i'm a 'newbie'.

My name is Liz, I'm 46 years old & began training for bodybuilding last June, 2006. I had always worked out & lifted - & always WANTED to do this -but never thought it was possible. I have a good friend who did figure & after one of her shows -- (i was zooming in on the women's bodybuilding - of course! hahaha) I decided to make the committment. I started to diet down in June 2006 (had to lose about 24 lbs) & did my first show in DeKalb, IL @ the end of November. It was a BLAST. More fun than I've ever had doing anything in my entire life. I wish I hadn't waited so long.

Anyway -- I'm planning (hoping) to make the SOA in April. Sully has been coaching/training me. He's been a HUGE help. When I look @ someone like you - who CLEARLY knows what you're doing -- i can't help but want to know more about this sport from a WOMAN'S prospective. This is a wonderful site - thank you so much for being such an inspiration!

Sorry this is such a long post... just wanted to say hey.

Have a great afternoon - Liz

Hey Liz - good to have you here girl!

Congrats on doing your first show! What an incredible feeling to attain such a feat huh? So now you're hooked, lol. That's what usually happens.

When I did my first show, I did it just for kicks. To see if I could diet down and actually do it. Get on stage. I've been hooked ever since. Every year I get more focused and serious about it. Way fun!

So you're working with Sully. That's fantastic. He's the guru and knows his shit. Good for you. I can't wait to meet you at the SOA. As far as I know, I'm judging that show and looking forward to seeing everyone.

Feel free to ask any questions, or email me any time. I'm always more than willing to help out other competitors.

Oh and dont be shy on the OCB board. Great bunch over there and always welcoming to new members. They're my second family.
